At Bear Valley Church (BVC) in Lakewood, CO, our mission is to lead people to know, love, and follow Jesus. Our vision is to be a transformed community serving to bless and influence our neighbors and the world with the Gospel. To continue moving toward this mission and vision, we are looking to hire our next full-time Student Pastor.

The Student Pastor will oversee all student ministry activities at the church and serve as a member of the pastoral team responsible for leading, shepherding, and protecting the church. They will be expected to build teams of volunteers and create new opportunities for students inside and outside the church to engage with the gospel and to lead them to take the next steps on their faith journey.

*Salary commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Disciple and reach high school and middle school students by:

  • Creating a relational culture in student ministries that is outreach-orientated and that meets the developmental stages of middle school and high school students.
  • Teaching the Bible to students and meeting with students to help them grow in their faith.
  • Developing and strengthening the large group and small groups of the student ministry.
  • Investing in and equipping a student leadership team.
  • Strategically and creatively leading the youth ministry with events such as monthly gatherings, retreats, ministry projects, and global mission trips.
  • Pursuing a ministry presence at local Middle Schools and High Schools.
  • Creating environments and events for students that are safe, creative, and balanced at all levels of our philosophy, strategy, and programming
  • Using programming and resources that are creative, excellent, biblical, and
    encourage students to take their next steps

Lead and develop a leadership team by:

  • Recruiting adults, parents, and college students to mentor and disciple middle school and high school students.
  • Meeting regularly with the leadership team and one-on-one for relationship building, equipping, and encouraging effective ministry.
  • Implementing and evaluating systems, processes, and forms to monitor the spiritual and physical growth of volunteer and parent base
  • Evaluate events and weekend environments with the Lead Pastor and volunteer teams
  • Showing appreciation and love for those who serve, making a note of important
    events and their life’s journey

Partner with parents to be the primary disciplers of their children by:

  • Providing support to parents through resources, counseling, and training opportunities,
  • Consistently informing parents about student ministry opportunities and events.

Work in support of the vision of Bear Valley Church and its Lead Pastor by:

  • Participating in the pastoral leadership of Bear Valley by caring for its members and assisting the staff team in specific projects as needed and as designated by the Lead Pastor.
  • Collaborating on projects that have community or church-wide benefits and impact
  • Committing to personal growth and leadership development
  • Keeping the strategy of Bear Valley Students in alignment with the vision of Bear Valley

EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE

  • A mature relationship with Jesus Christ that is clear and evident
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred
  • 2-4 years of Student Ministry experience (volunteer or vocational)
  • Proficient understanding of challenges and needs of students
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, written, computer, social media, and strategy-building skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and events
  • A people person who has a genuine love for others and a desire to serve them
  • A strong team player and collaborator
